Picture issued of man police want to speak to after assault at bar

Detectives have issued a picture of a man they would like to speak to following an assault at a bar that left someone with “serious facial injuries”.

Cheshire Police said officers were called to reports at 10.20pm on Saturday, March 11, that a 51-year-old man had been assaulted by a group of "unknown offenders" at a bar on Halton Road, Runcorn. The patient was later taken to Warrington Hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Police have issued a picture of a man they have appealed to come forward. The ECHO understands the establishment where the incident took place was The Northern Bar, which opened in August following a northern soul-themed refurbishment from its previous guise as The Grapes.

A spokesperson for Runcorn CID said: “An investigation into the assault is ongoing and following initial enquiries, we are keen to speak to a man pictured in the image that we believe may have information to assist us with our enquiries.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the Halton Road area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed anything that didn’t look quite right.
