Pictionary fans will love LEGO’s new board game

Family board game nights usually only end one way: with one person delighted with the triumph, and the rest either openly seething or giving them the silent treatment as a sore loser. We don’t make the rules.

If this is you, then LEGO’s latest board game might be the peace-offering answer you’ve been looking for.

While Brick Like This! is fast, fun, and competitive, it also heavily relies on communication, so you’ll need to be in constant contact with your gamemates, reducing the risk of any squabbles down the line.

How do you play?

In Brick Like This!, LEGO bricks are your tools and the premise is simple: in teams of two, one player describes a LEGO model while the other tries to build it – as quickly (and accurately) as possible. It’s like Pictionary meets LEGO, complete with a timer for added pressure.

The result? A game that’s perfect for families, teens, or even adults looking for a light-hearted challenge.

Who can play?

What’s more, you can play Brick Like This! in just 15 minutes with up to eight players aged seven and up.

The concept comes from designer Luca Bellini, whose earlier version of the game has been reimagined by Dotted Games, an Asmodee studio dedicated to the LEGO partnership. Birgitte Bülow, Head of Dotted Games, says: “With Brick Like This! you can enjoy the familiarity of LEGO bricks as an integrated part of a board game in a great combination that really lets everyone join in and have fun at the same time.”

Board Games Lead at LEGO, Jaume Fabregat, adds: “Our goal when building the portfolio of LEGO board games is to be able to offer as many different players as possible a great game experience. With Brick Like This! we are offering a very easy-to-learn game that can be played with all types of players.”

The game made its debut at the London Toy Fair and Nuremberg Toy Fair earlier this year before making a splash at Gen Con – North America’s biggest board game convention. It launched worldwide on August 1 and is now ready to shake up future game nights.

So, what are you waiting for? Shop Brick Like This! for your next dinner party, family get-together, or Twixtmas slow period now.

LEGO Brick Like This!

No need for arguing on your next family games night. LEGO’s new board game, Brick Like This! challenges teams to race against the clock as one player describes a model while the other builds it. Easy to learn, fast to play, it’s perfect for kids, teens, and adults – i.e. the whole family.
