Pick-up hits power post, 4 injured in Chai Nat

CHAI NAT: Four people of a family from nearby Nakhon Sawan were injured, two of them seriously, after a pick-up truck they were travelling in rammed into a power post and knocked it down, causing a blackout in about half of Chai Nat town for about 30 minutes on Saturday night, police said.

The accident took place at about 9pm at kilometre marker 287 on the north-bound side of Phahon Yothin highway.

The male driver, aged about 30, and his wife were seriously injured while their two daughters, 3 and 10, sustained minor injuries. They were admitted to Chai Nat Hospital.

The accident caused a blackout that affected about half of the town while a large crowd was attending the straw bird fair currently being held in the province.

Local electricity officials managed to bring back the power supply after about 30 minutes.
