Lifeguards at Patong Beach in Phuket have reported a significant increase in jellyfish stings among tourists.

Many swimmers have been stung by box jellyfish, experiencing red rashes, burning sensations and allergic reactions upon leaving the water, Patong lifeguards say.

Lifeguards give first aid using vinegar to stop the spread of venom and reduce stinging sensations. But several severe cases have required transfers to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
