Phillip Schofield's one word reply when Dancing On Ice star asked about affair rumours

Phillip Schofield is said to have given a one word reply when his Dancing On Ice co-star asked about his affair.

Jason Gardiner apparently confronted the This Morning star over rumours of his relationship with a young runner.

Phillip, 61, quit This Morning and ITV as he admitted to having an "unwise but not illegal" relationship after previously denying it.

Dancing On Ice judge Jason has said he saw the runner with Phil on the set of the dancing competition and first started to hear rumours in 2020.

He said he sent Phil a private message on Twitter about the rumours - which Jason heard about around the same time Phillip came out.

"I said, ‘I know this is a very difficult moment for you and I support you in your decision to come out, but I also feel that I need to ask you about certain rumours that are going around online and are you aware of them?’," he told The Sun.

He claims Phil replied with one word: “Seriously?”

Jason added: “That was it. It was very dismissive and that made me uneasy because I thought, ‘I’ve reached out to you very authentically’, and it kind of really p***ed me off.”

Phil announced his exit from This Morning on May 20 and later went on to walk away from ITV completely, after admitting to a historic affair with a younger colleague.

In a statement shared less than a week on from his exit from the daytime TV show he hosted for two decades, Phil said: "In an effort to protect my ex-colleague, I haven’t been truthful about the relationship.

"But my recent, unrelated, departure from This Morning fuelled speculation and raised questions which have been impacting him, so for his sake it is important for me to be honest now.

"I am painfully conscious that I have lied to my employers at ITV, to my colleagues and friends, to my agents, to the media and therefore the public and most importantly of all to my family. I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife.

"I have therefore decided to step down from the British Soap Awards, my last public commitment, and am resigning from ITV with immediate effect expressing my immense gratitude to them for all the amazing opportunities that they have given me."

Since he released his statement, Phillip has admitted he has no idea what the future holds for his career, he hopes one day he could return to a job in TV.

He was said to have been eyeing up a stint on TalkTV but Phil has since set the record straight on his future on TV.

Phil's lawyer has responded to the claims and predictions.

"Absolutely not as far as I know," he told the Mirror when asked if Phil is set to make a return to our screens on TalkTV.
