Phillip Schofield return date to This Morning set after brother's trial

Phillip Schofield's return date to This Morning has been announced after his brother was found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy.

Timothy Schofield was found guilty at Exeter Crown Court of sexually abusing a teenage boy over a period of three years and will remain in custody ahead of sentencing at Bristol Crown Court on May 19.

As the trial got underway, Phillip, 61, has been absent from This Morning as his usual co-host Holly Willoughby teamed up with Alison Hammond and Joel Dommett for presenting duties.

Following the case, it's been confirmed that Phillip is due to return to his ITV show alongside Holly on April 17 after their Easter break. A TV insider told The Sun: "Phillip is on pre-planned leave and is due to return after the Easter holidays."

Phillip has been absent from the show since Thursday, March 23, but is due to return in less than two weeks. Alison and Dermot O’Leary are covering the show during Phillip and Holly's pre-scheduled two week Easter break from Monday, April 3.

Timothy, 54, was charged with 11 sexual offences involving a child between 2016 and 2019, including two of sexual activity with a child. Following the guilty verdict in court, Phillip said "I no longer have a brother" and "welcomed" the guilty verdicts for the "despicable crimes".

A lawyer acting on behalf of Phillip Schofield shared a statement after the verdict.

It read: "My overwhelming concern is and has always been for the wellbeing of the victim and his family. I hope that their privacy will now be respected.

"If any crime had ever been confessed to me by my brother, I would have acted immediately to protect the victim and their family.

"These are despicable crimes, and I welcome the guilty verdicts. As far as I am concerned, I no longer have a brother."
