Phillip Schofield makes announcement seconds into ITV This Morning with Holly Willoughby

Phillip Schofield was quick to address viewers as This Morning got underway. The presenter and co-host Holly Willoughby were back at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Thursday (November 17).

Holly, 41, was contining to bring the autumnal vibes with a smart, office-inspired outfit as she donned a black and white houndstooth midi skirt which she paired with a white shirt and a pair of staple black heels. Phillip, 60, meanwhile, donned a darker checked shirt and black trousers with smart shoes.

But straight at the top of the show, Phillip shared how he and Holly wouldn't be on-screen for as long as usual today as the programme was being cut short.

The popular show usually airs from 10am to 12.30pm every weekday from Monday through to Thursday. But at the start of today's show, Phillip confirmed This Morning would end more than an hour early at 11.15am to allow for an ITV News special.

The news special will air from 11.15am to allow for more coverage of Jeremy Hunt's autumn budget. The Chancellor is set to promise a plan to weather an economic "storm"as he risks a backlash by unveiling a £54 billion package of tax hikes and spending cuts.

He will insist to MPs that his autumn statement puts the UK on a “balanced path to stability” as he tackles the “enemy” of inflation, which has soared to a 41-year high. Mr Hunt will say his “difficult decisions” are necessary to keep mortgage rates low and tackle the rocketing energy and food prices intensifying the cost-of-living crisis.

But they still made sure their 75-minutes on air. Holly and Phil were joined by Tom Swarbrick and Vanessa Feltz to discuss the latest news headlines in 'This Morning's View' - in which they confirmed the return of Neighbours.

The presenters also got to taste teste some of the festive sandwich offerings and were joined by two guests, Succession's Brian Cox and former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse who now appears alongside Holly and Phillip as a judge on Dancing On Ice which they host.
