Phillip Schofield gives health update as he hosts ITV's This Morning with croaky voice

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield confessed he was a little under the weather, as he hosted the show as normal on Monday morning.

Holly Willoughby mocked her co-star as the show began, making a comment about his voice before he'd even spoken.

It's then that Phillip's voice was heard to be very croaky by viewers, with him not sounding well at all.

But he insisted he was completely fine and had been tested for coronavirus, before revealing what was wrong with him.

As Holly remained beside him and he remained in the studio, Phillip informed ITV viewers he had laryngitis.

When Lorraine Kelly handed over to Holly and Phil to find out what was coming up, it was noticeable that his voice wasn't the same as usual.

But it wasn't until the start of the show that all was explained, with viewers learning why he sounded so hoarse.

From the moment the show began, Holly made fans aware by saying: "Don't panic, we haven't changed his voice to protect his identity."

As Phillip laughed it off, he mouthed: "I'm fine," as Holly asked: "What's going on with you?"

He explained: "I have been fully tested. I feel amazingly good, but I have a touch of laryngitis."

Holly then remarked: "So you're just gonna sound kind of sexy actually? Sounds quite good doesn't it!"

Phillip went on: "I just sound a little croaky today," putting on a deeper voice before saying: "Anyway I feel fine, I'm just a bit croaky."

Meanwhile the show and its theme song and intro had a festive makeover, as Holly screamed: "It's Christmas!"

With trees, holly and decorations everywhere, the hosts were surprised by the crew who had been working hard to get it ready.

There was also a moving polar bear, with Holly unable to work out if someone was inside controlling it or not.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
