Philippe Coutinho's agent on speculation he could leave Barcelona in summer transfer window

Philipe Coutinho has “no plans” to leave Barcelona, despite extensive reports linking him with a move to Juventus.

The Brazilian signed for the Catalan giants in January 2018, leaving Liverpool in a deal worth £142million.

That was the fourth bid lodged by Barcelona and only after a firm warning from Anfield transfer supremo Michael Edwards.

Barca had hoped that Coutinho would replace club legend Andres Iniesta, but struggled hugely during his first 18-months at the Nou Camp.

In 2019, he was sent on loan to Bayern Munich, where he enjoyed a much better time – winning the Bundesliga and Champions League.

Upon returning to Barcelona, there was intense speculation that he would leave in the summer, with a number of Premier League clubs linked.

However, under Ronald Koeman this season, the 28-year-old has been handed a much more prominent role.

Despite that, Calciomercato reported that Barca could, once again, look to offload Coutinho, with Juventus poised to make a move.

But in response to the original rumour, the player’s agent Kia Joorabchian has rubbished suggestions, claiming he can still contribute to a successful campaign with his current club.

"I have not heard anything and we have no plans to move from Barça, and yes that Coutinho can contribute to a successful season," Joorabchian told Mundo Deportivo.

It marks a change in tact from the super-agent, who had strongly hinted that his client had at least one eye on a return to England’s top-flight.

"He has a desire to come back to the Premier League at some point," he told Sky Sports earlier this year. "It may not happen this year, it may happen this year - we don't know.

"We really have not discussed anything for now.

"We're still waiting until the season finishes before we start talking about anything in terms of transfers. I've always said he loved to play in the Premier League, he enjoyed his time at Liverpool very much.

"If the opportunity arises to come back to the Premier League, whether it be this year or in the future, he’s definitely looking at that."
