Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva insists team-mate Phil Foden is destined for greatness, assuring that opportunities will come for the youngster.
Having made his first-team debut in 2017, Foden has continued to progress into one of the most highly-touted prospects in European football.
Manager Pep Guardiola's list of praises is extensive, the Spaniard insisting Foden is the most talented player he's worked with.
A certain Lionel Messi may have raised an eyebrow at that one.
But despite such plaudits, Foden has struggled for game-time this season, starting just three Premier League games.
However, with legendary City midfielder David Silva confirming he will be leaving at the end of the season, [Bernardo] Silva now believes it's time for Foden to take over.
Speaking on the club's official website, Foden said: “I think Phil is a fantastic player and has a great future ahead of him.
“If he stays a long time definitely [his future is bright] and I think it’s a good opportunity for him when David goes for Phil to start to play more and to have a firm position in the team.
“I think it’s tough. When you talk about City of course he’s unbelievable - a fantastic player and has a huge future ahead of him - but it’s never easy when in your position you have players like David or Kevin [De Bruyne] or Gundo [Ilkay Gundogan].
“So, he needs to stay calm, to work a lot and these opportunities will come
“Whenever he plays, he plays great, the more we go the more opportunities will come and I’m sure in the near future he will be a very, very important player for City.”
