MUMBAI: The postgraduate medical counselling will start from September 1. After a delay of several months, the medical counselling committee (MCC) will soon release the admission schedule. MBBS graduates who took their entrance exam on May 21, have been awaiting clarity on several issues like total number of seats, how admissions will play out and fees.
MCC, which wanted to bring the admission schedule back to timelines followed before the pandemic, had to delay the same as the National Medical Commission (NMC) was conducting college inspections. “NMC and National Board of Examinations should bring back the PG examination and admission process to pre-Covid times as the examination and counselling are delayed,” said Brijesh Sutaria, a parent.
PG NEET would be held on the first Sunday of January and results would be out by the month end. MBBS as-pirants would complete their internship by March-end and then the PG admission process would start. This time, students could complete their internship till July end. “But MCC has not declared the admission schedule and there’s no clarity on the admission process rules,” said parent representative Sudha Shenoy.
