- Peter Murrell, the former chief executive of the Scottish National Party (SNP), has admitted to embezzling over £400,000 from the party.
- Murrell, who is Nicola Sturgeon ’s estranged husband, pleaded guilty to the charges at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday morning.
- The embezzlement of £400,310.65 occurred between August 2010 and October 2022.
- Allegations included in the indictment state that Murrell used £124,550 of party funds in 2020 to purchase a motorhome for his personal use.
- He was initially arrested in April 2023 as part of a police investigation into the SNP's finances, and subsequently charged in April 2024.
