Peter King ‘won’t be shocked’ if Broncos draft Dwayne Haskins

In last week’s Football Morning in America article on ProFootballTalk.com, NFL columnist Peter King wrote that he “won’t be shocked” if the Denver Broncos select Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins with the 10th overall pick in the NFL draft.

Haskins (6-3, 231 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 5.04 seconds and jumped 28.5 inches vertically at the combine earlier this offseason. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Haskins to Drew Bledsoe, who was the first overall pick in the 1993 NFL draft.

Haskins was a one-year starter with the Buckeyes, earning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2018. As a sophomore, Haskins completed 70.0 percent of his throws for 4,831 yards with 50 touchdown passes against eight interceptions.

During his pre-draft visit at Denver’s facility earlier this month, Haskins wore a throwback John Elway jersey. Elway, who won two Super Bowls as a Broncos quarterback, now serves as the team’s general manager.

Broncos superstar outside linebacker Von Miller has made it clear that Haskins is his preferred choice for Denver this year.
