Peter Crouch tells Harry Winks to consider drastic Spurs decision amid latest Jose Mourinho snub

Former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch believes Harry Winks must seriously consider his future at the club.

Winks has struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho this season, starting just three times in the Premier League and only making four appearances in all domestically despite featuring regularly in the Europa League.

The England international impressed in Tottenham's last Europa League tie, a win over Ludogorets, but he was still left out of the squad for the Premier League clash with Chelsea last weekend, and he also started this evening's clash with LASK on the bench.

Former Spurs striker turned pundit Crouch had his say on the situation on BT Sport and he has sympathy for Winks and Dele Alli, who has suffered a similar fate this season.

"I feel for both of them," said Crouch. "We did the last game, against Ludogorets, and they were fantastic, Winks and Dele Alli.

"Then it comes to Chelsea on the weekend and they are not even in the squad, so the writing on the wall, really.

"I do feel sorry for them, but if they have aspirations to play in the Euros, they need football and they might have to consider their futures, because, at the moment, it looks like Mourinho doesn't fancy them."

Crouch remembers a similar situation during his time at Liverpool, adding: "I was playing for England and Liverpool and we signed Fernando Torres, and I had to move on because I wasn't getting games I had to move on.

"It did work out for me and I stayed in the England squad but Torres left soon after, so there was a little bit of regret there.

"But Harry Winks has been at the football club since he was a kid but he is not getting enough games. He is a fantastic player and perhaps it might be the time to move on, but it's easier said than done."

Winks is under contract at Tottenham until 2024 having penned a new deal only last year.
