Peter Crouch sends message to Liverpool fans after trolling Tottenham star Harry Kane

Peter Crouch has jokingly thanked Livepool fans for the part they played in voting him Tottenham Hotspur’s best striker of the decade.

The former England forward won a recent Twitter poll held by Spurs to decide their best striker of the decade, with Crouch beating both Harry Kane and Jermain Defoe.

The 38-year-old won 61 per cent of the vote, with Kane second after claiming 32 per cent – although it was clear that it wasn’t just Spurs fans who had been having their say.

Supporters of other clubs – including Liverpool, where Crouch became something of a cult hero – got involved to ensure Crouch came out on top.

Jose Mourinho: Harry Kane is fantastic

And, working as a pundit for BT Sport ahead of Chelsea’s game at Brighton on New Year’s Day, Crouch was congratulated on winning the vote by presenter Jake Humphrey.

"We should start by saying how honoured we both are to be alongside Tottenham’s greatest striker of the past decade," Humphrey said.

"Congratulations, I’m sure that went down well in the Kane household."

Crouch replied: "Yes, I’m not quite sure how that’s happened but I’ll take it, I’ll take it."

Humphrey then said: "I think we know, I think we know. The Liverpool fans…"

And Crouch admitted that may have been the case, adding: "They’ve been good to me, they’ve been good to me."
