Peter Andre reaches out to Christine McGuinness as he speaks out on 'sad' Paddy split

Peter Andre has spoken out about his friend Christine McGuinness' split from her husband Paddy.

Mysterious Girl singer Peter, 49, sent his support to 34-year-old Christine and said he hopes she is "coping OK".

Peter shared his sadness over the breakdown of Christine and 48-year-old Paddy's romance.

"It was sad to hear the news about Christine McGuinness and she and her husband Paddy separating," he wrote in his column with OK!.

Peter continued: "I’ve known Christine for a while and she knows me and Emily are always here for her and I hope she is coping OK.

"She is an incredible person and an incredible mum, too. Sending her all our love."

It comes after the couple announced their decision to separate but live in the same home together earlier this month.

Top Gear host Paddy and Christine shared a joint statement on their Instagram pages, which read: "We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but after the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.

"A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children. This was not an easy decision to make but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together.

"We hope this now draws a line under anymore unwanted and unnecessary intrusion into our private life. Although we work in the public eye we ask kindly if you could respect our wishes for privacy on this matter. We’ll be making no further comment."

"The pair signed off the message: “Loads of love. Paddy & Christine."

The couple were surrounded by speculation they had gone their separate ways for a number of months, after fans called out the Take Me Out host for not publicly supporting Christine at The Games.

Later, fans' suspicions deepened as Paddy's heart tattoo on his ring finger appeared to be missing in a video uploaded by his chef pal Chris Baber.

However, Christine put on a defiant display as she was spotted out and about with her wedding ring very much on.

Christine, who shares three children with Paddy, then jetted off a solo trip to Croatia, sharing some cryptic messages in her captions of the snaps from the trip.

In the caption of one image, Christine discussed "following her heart" as she wrote: "I followed my heart and it led me to Croatia.

"Memories for life, I’m feeling very lucky, so blessed. I’ve laughed sooo much, relaxed and switched off like never before!

"I definitely won’t be leaving it another 3 years before I catch my next flight "

Split speculation had surrounded the pair for months in the lead up to their announcement (mirror.co.uk)

And earlier in July Christine insisted things between her and Paddy were fine.

She told OK!: "We’re really good, honestly."

But, just a few days later, she admitted to feeling "raw" and "all over the place" as she and Paddy were going through a "very, very difficult time".

She added: "What I might have put up with in the past, I probably wouldn’t put up with now, and the same for him."

She added to The Sun: "I can't lie we're having a very, very difficult time."

Although Christine was reluctant to go into detail about the issues within their marriage, she insisted she "didn’t cause this situation".
