Peter Andre opens up on past rivalry with Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly

Peter Andre spoke of his former rivalry with Ant McPartlin in a Channel 5 documentary, covering the TV presenter’s recent comeback.

The 43-year-old presenter took a break from his TV commitments last year following his drink-drive crash and later checked into rehab.

His appearance on Britain’s Got Talent last weekend was the first time he was seen on screen in almost a year with co-star Declan Donnelly.

On Friday, Channel 5 aired a new documentary covering the star’s rise to fame, and his break from TV last year.

Ant McPartlin's secret boozing in PJ & Duncan pop star days

The Comeback of Ant McPartlin showed clips from his early pop days with Dec as well as acting debut in Byker Grove, while it also had commentary from people who have worked with him over the years.

One person on the show was singer Peter Andre, who used to live in the same apartment block as Ant and Dec.

Peter discussed their shared early pop era, with all three of them desperate to hit the big time.

In doing so, Peter confessed they, along with Australian singer and The X Factor star Danii Minogue, had a rivalry.

It came after the success of Ant and Dec’s song, under their Byker Grove names PJ and Duncan, Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble which reached the Top 10 in the UK.

The boys moved down to London, with them then not entirely seeing eye-to-eye at times with fellow star Peter.

He explained: “Myself, Danni Minogue and Ant and Dec all lived in the same apartment block.

“I used to throw parties constantly, and I can remember them banging their broom on the ceiling because they were complaining because the music was too loud.

“Every time we saw each other it was kinda like, yeah…we were all rivals you see, because everyone wanted to fight for the top spot of the headlines.”
