Hollywood superstar Ewan McGregor has urged families to visit Santa’s special post office in Perthshire this festive season.
The Star Wars and Trainspotting star posted a video on social media yesterday to tell everyone about the Christmas post office in Crieff.
The post office has been set up in the Strathearn town’s James Square, and children will be able to go along and write their own letters to Santa Claus which will go straight from Crieff to the North Pole.
And Ewan McGregor, who originally hails from Crieff, says Santa has employed a very special helper this year - his own mum.
In the video, which was posted on Visit Crieff’s Facebook page, he said: “I want to tell you that Santa Claus’ post office, a special post office just for children to write their letters to Santa Claus, is in Crieff in James Square, in a shop in James Square.
“Take kids there to write their letters to Santa and they will be delivered.
“And on December 7, Santa himself is coming with real reindeer to visit the children in the post office and there will be elves and helpers, Santa’s helpers.
“It is totally free except there will be a donation box and all the donations will go to CHAS, one of my favourite charities.
“And there will be a special Santa’s helper there - my mum.
“So I hope you get the time to go to Crieff’s special Santa Claus post office this December and let your kids write their letters to Santa.
“It should be a really good time.”
Visit Crieff said the video was filmed by Ewan McGregor during film shoots in Peru.
The Santa Claus Victorian-style post office will open on Saturday, November 30, coinciding with the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.
This is the first time Santa has ever opened a special Christmas post office in Scotland.
