Perthshire residents asked to wish each other a great festive 'period' to support Tampon Taxi

PKAVS Tampon Taxi has added a whole new meaning to the festive period.

The local charity has produced some pun-tastic charity Christmas cards to promote period dignity.

The cards feature two designs wishing the recipient either a joyful or wonderful festive “period.”

Plans for ambitious £62m project at world-renowned research institute approved

PKAVS launched the Tampon Taxi in March and sought to encourage Perth and Kinross residents to “do their bit for period dignity” with this latest fundraiser.

It was primarily set up to help those who were in self-isolation or unable to access free products at school, college, etc but is open to anyone who finds themselves in need.

The delivery is left discreetly in a paper bag at the door of the property or posted to those in more remote parts of the region.

The service recently received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

This allowed PKAVS to expand both the range of products on offer as well as being able to deliver to the whole of Perth and Kinross.

PKAVS minority communities hub team leader Jenni Keenan told the Perthshire Advertiser : “The Tampon Taxi is based on the principles of period dignity, which in short means that we are keen to offer easy access to products; a stigma free experience, and a wide choice of options.”

And the service now has a product guide online.

Jenni added: “The funding has allowed us to embrace these values further by adding to our wide range of free period products.

“We are now able to offer a wide range of reusable products as well as single use options.

“It’s important to us that women and girls have the opportunities to try out products and decide what is right for them, and through the increased range available we hope to support them with that.”

Jenni said this latest Christmas card fundraiser was devised to help maintain the service in the longer term.

The Christmas cards are priced at £3.50 for a pack of five A6 cards with all proceeds going to the work of the Tampon Taxi.
