Person pulled from under train after incident at Moorfields station

A person was pulled from underneath a train at Moorfields before being rushed to hospital.

Emergency services were called to the city centre station, at the junction of Dale Street, just moments after midnight on Wednesday to reports of the incident.

Police, fire crews and specialist HART paramedics arrived at the scene minutes later and discovered the person on the tracks, underneath the train.

The person was conscious and breathing, according to a spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue, when crews reached them.

Paramedics from the Hazardous Area Response Team, helped by firefighters, managed to pull the injured person from underneath the train and onto a stretcher.

Once on the platform the person was given emergency treatment before being rushed to hospital.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Mersey Fire told the ECHO: “Fire crews have been called to an incident at Moorfields underground railway station in Liverpool City Centre in the early hours of this morning.

“Three fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team are in attendance.

“Crews were alerted at 00.06am and on scene at 00.14am.

“Fire crews arrived to find a casualty under a train at Moorfields station.

“The casualty was conscious and breathing and not trapped by the train.

“North West Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team have stabilised the casualty’s injuries and with the assistance of fire crews have used a stretcher to move the person between carriages to the platform.

“The casualty is now being transported by ambulance to hospital for treatment.”
