Person hit by train as emergency crews race to scene with ScotRail services disrupted

A person has been hit my a train in North Lanarkshire today.

Officers from the British Transport Police and paramedics have rushed to the scene after the incident, Scotrail have confirmed.

The  incident happened on the line between Croy station in North Lanarkshire and Polmont train station in the Falkirk area shortly before 1pm.

As a result services that normally travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh that call at Falkirk High will now run via Falkirk Grahamston instead.

In a short statement, Scotrail said: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Croy and Polmont. The emergency services are on their way, I'll keep you updated."

The Daily Record has contacted British Transport Police for comment.
