Person fatally stuck by CTA train in Rogers Park: police

A person died after being struck by a CTA train Thursday in Rogers Park on the North Side.

Officers responded to a “medical emergency” on the tracks about 5:45 p.m. at the Jarvis Avenue CTA Station, 1523 W. Jarvis Ave., and found a female on the tracks who was pronounced dead at the scene, Chicago police said.

The woman is believed to have intentionally jumped in front of the train, police said.

CTA suspended service on the Red and Purple lines trains for nearly three hours. About 8 p.m., Red and Purple Line trains resumed service, but were running with residual delays, the agency said.

Yellow Line trains remained suspended, the agency said. Shuttle buses are available to provide connection service through the affected area.
