A person was fatally shot Thursday in Fernwood on the South Side.
About 12:50 a.m. officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 10400 block of South Eggleston Avenue, found the female unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her hip, Chicago police said.
She was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, but later died, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details on the fatality.
