If you have a love for disaster movies, it is probably thanks to the 1996 film Twister. Luckily, the genre has made a return thanks to the 2024 film Twisters and now you can own the two films in one box set! My kind of gift.
The 2-Movie Steelbook 4K Ultra HD + Digital special brings fans both of the disaster classics with special features, including “The Legacy of Twister – Taken by the Wind,” digital copies of both of the films, and more. Twister starred Bill Paxton as Bill, a former storm chaser who returns to get his ex-wife Jo (Helen Hunt) to sign their divorce papers. What happens is Bill and Jo have to see what their work chasing storms is really about.
Then, 28 years later, we got Twisters. Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is roped back into storm chasing thanks to her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) but when she meets the “Tornado Wrangler” named Tyler (Glen Powell), the team all learns how they can help people from the storms that destroy their homes.
The official description for the double feature box set is as follows: “Get swept up in two adrenaline-pumping blockbuster disaster epics with the Twisters Double Feature. The heart-stopping action and exhilarating thrills begin with Academy Award®-nominated Twister (1996). When two scientists (Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton) pursue the most destructive weather front to tear through Tornado Alley in almost 50 years, they must risk their lives to collect life-saving data by putting themselves squarely in the twisters’ deadly paths.”
It goes on to talk about the new film: “In Twisters (2024), scientist and former storm-chaser Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is lured back to the Oklahoma prairie by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) for a once-in-a-lifetime scientific opportunity. Kate crosses paths with Tyler (Glen Powell), a charming daredevil and self-proclaimed tornado wrangler who she must work with if the two have any chance of taming, and surviving, an unprecedented outbreak of destructive tornados.”
Two of the best action movies of all time

I grew up a child of the 90s, meaning that I grew up with a lot of disaster movies. We had volcano movies, earthquake films, and, of course, Twister. It was my favorite and when I first heard tale of Twisters, I wasn’t sure about it. But we all know how that movie broke me body and soul and became one of my favorite films of all time.
Watching the two movies back to back is exciting because they are not necessarily sequels of each other but rather Twisters is a love letter to the genre and what Twister did for audiences. And why not own both of these iconic films in the same box set?
You know what this release reminds me of? When you used to go into the Wal-Mart bin and find a double feature DVD that were two movies just slightly connected. At least, in this case, you have two brilliant disaster movies to spend the night watching! And that’s my kind of movie night.
