Pep Guardiola 'makes personal call to Juventus' over Leonardo Bonucci and more gossip

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has personally called Juventus to enquire about the availability of defender Leonardo Bonucci, reports in Italy say.

The Italian defender has emerged as a possible transfer target in the last week, with the race for Matthijs de Ligt seemingly won by Juve.

But should De Ligt move to Turin, that could free up Bonucci to move on, and Corriere dello Sport   say Guardiola is taking a personal role in City's interest.

The report (via Calciomercato ) says Guardiola personally called Juve to congratulate them on the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, before moving onto the future of Bonucci.

City are looking for a new central defender to replace Vincent Kompany, and their hopes of landing Bonucci could be aided by reports Juve have submitted an opening bid for De Ligt.

Sky Italy say their offer for the Ajax captain is worth an initial £49.3m, plus add-ons.

Meanwhile, Fabian Delph has reportedly cleared out his locker at City ahead of a move out of the club.

Goal say the arrival of Angelino puts Delph fourth in the left-back pecking order, and the England international is set to leave City this summer.

Delph had been linked with former club Leeds, but his high wages and a reluctance to drop into the Championship reportedly ended any notion of the move. More recently, he has been mentioned as a possible transfer target for Galatasaray.
