Pep Guardiola hints at Man City plans in January transfer window

Pep Guardiola has said he is not planning for any new arrivals at Manchester City in the January transfer window.

The Blues have had a difficult start to the season and currently sit in the bottom half of the table after just three wins from their opening eight games. They have fared better in the Champions League though, and finally look to be coming toward the end of injury problems that haven't hindered their bid for consistency.

City coach Guardiola declared himself happy with the state of his squad when asked if he could add to it when the next window opens: "Not at all, I have a fantastic team to fight for all the titles,” he said.

Guardiola does not have the sole say on transfers and rarely speaks about deals publicly. Back in September he made a similar statement just under two weeks before Ruben Dias became the club's new record signing.

However, it has been rare for the Blues to do major business in January in recent years - although they did sign Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao in 2018 - as they prefer to do that work between seasons.

Having secured the services of Guardiola for another two years during the international break, one of the remaining priorities for the recruitment team this season is to decide on the future of Sergio Aguero. The 32-year-old striker is out of contract in the summer, with no decision yet made on whether a new deal can or will be struck.
