Pep Guardiola compares Liverpool and Man United approach and discovering 'secrets'

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed he doesn't approach Liverpool games any differently than when facing Manchester United.

The two Manchester clubs will meet at the Etihad in the League Cup semi-final second leg this evening.

Ahead of the knockout encounter, in which City lead 3-1 on aggregate, the Spanish boss was asked if the games against league leaders Liverpool are now more important than when facing off with local rivals United.

As quoted by Manchester Evening News, Guardiola explained: "Not especially. Now maybe Liverpool in the last two seasons is the competitor and have been closer but I think I didn’t approach the United games differently to Liverpool, honestly.

"I try to discover the secrets about the players they have, the systems they use, but not especially."

Jurgen Klopp's undefeated side currently sit 16 points ahead of second-placed Man City.

The Reds will have a chance to go 19 points clear at the Premier League summit as they take on West Ham this evening.
