Pep Guardiola and Man City Covid update delivered by assistant Rodolfo Borrell

Pep Guardiola is only suffering from mild symptoms after testing positive for Covid two days ago.

The Manchester City boss is one of 14 members of the Blues staff currently isolating after an outbreak of the virus at City's training ground, with seven first-team players also having to stay away.

Guardiola's assistant Juanma Lillo is also in isolation, and the other assistant Rodolfo Borrell will take charge of the squad for tomorrow night's FA Cup third round tie at Swindon.

Borrell also stepped in to take today's pre-match press conference, and while he would not reveal the names of the seven players who will be missing, he gave an update on Guardiola's condition, and said that the situation is fluid with the possibility of more positive tests before tomorrow's game.

"We have had a Covid outbreak and have seven players unavailable, and 14 staff," he said, before making it plain that some of the academy players who might have stepped up for the game are also isolating.

"We are getting it day by day so we don't know where it is going to end."

When asked about Guardiola. Borrell said: "He is fine. He has got the virus but fortunately hasn't got a lot of symptoms, and we are permanently in touch via Zoom or by a call, like we always are."

City have not revealed the names of the seven first-teamers affected, but it is thought to include Aleks Zinchenko and Phil Foden, who both missed the weekend win at Arsenal through Covid.
