People of state want double-engine govt: Bihar BJP president Samrat Choudhary

PATNA: New state BJP president for Bihar Samrat Choudhary will assume office at the party headquarters in Patna on Monday amid a procession from city airport and grand celebrations at the party office.

Samrat, who was appointed as the Bihar BJP president on Thursday, called on the party’s national president J P Nadda in New Delhi on Friday. Speaking to reporters in the national capital, Samrat said people in Bihar want double-engine government of BJP for all-round development.

“The people in Bihar love Narendra Modiji. They want a double-engine government of BJP. The PM’s dream of cohesive development in the country will be seen in Bihar as well,” Samrat said.

Asked on whose leadership the BJP will fight the upcoming elections in the state, Samrat said, “Leadership will be only of Narendra Modiji across the country. The party is led by J P Naddaji. However, the only face in BJP is of Modiji and everything will be done in his leadership.”

In Patna, Samrat’s predecessor Sanjay Jaiswal told reporters, “Samrat will reach Patna airport at 10am on Monday. He will reach the party office amid a procession.” Jaiswal said.

Expressing gratitude to the party’s central leadership and workers, Jaiswal said during his three-and-a-half-year tenure as BJP state president, he got their support all the time.

In response to a question, Jaiswal said Samrat would get all the support required from him. “It is the beauty of the BJP that whoever becomes the new state president continues to get the power and strength of the former presidents. The same will happen with Samrat,” Jaiswal said.

Meanwhile, Samrat’s elevation as state BJP president was also welcomed by LJP (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan. “Many congratulations to Samrat Choudharyji. I have very good personal relations with him and his family. He is one of the hardworking political leaders and I hope that whatever decisions he takes as BJP’s state president will be for the betterment of the state and his party,” Chirag said.
