Georgia’s ruling party has said it will drop its bill on “foreign agents” following two turbulent nights of protests.

The proposed law would have required any organisations receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register as “foreign agents” or face substantial fines. Critics warned that it would limit press freedom and could damage Tbilisi’s chances at becoming an EU member.

The Georgian Dream party said in a statement it would “unconditionally withdraw the bill we supported without any reservations”.

We want to speak to people in Georgia about the scrapped bill and the protests. What is your view? Were you at the protests – if so, what were they like?
