People are only just realising how to open an Oxo cube without making a mess

It's a staple in many people's kitchens thanks to its versatility, but there's one bugbear with the trusty Oxo cube that leaves many people frustrated: it can be messy. Thankfully, one woman has answered our prayers by sharing a simple hack for opening the packet up without any spillages.

Social media user @iamkleenz recently took to TikTok to share her method for opening an Oxo cube and viewers have been shocked by the lack of any mess - leaving them perplexed as to why they've not done it sooner.

In the clip, the TikTok user starts by saying: "These Oxo cubes, they come in these little cubes, right. Check this out".

She then starts to peel back the corners of the hard cube which makes each side of the cube look like it has wings.

She then stated: "So cute, right, full of beef stock."

From here she revealed what her tip is for opening them to minimise all the mess.

She explains: "Alright what you do is give it a gentle push.

"Look at this, it is no longer a cube. Then you can gently tear the edge."

She is then able to pour out the contents of the Oxo cube as a fine powder rather than a cube into her hot pan - or scattered all over the floor.

Many have been stunned to find out this simple trick as the comments were full of people praising the idea or even saying they would try it out themselves.

One person commented: "Omg, thank you."

While another said: "What, ok... today years old. Thank you. I have been doing it the messy way since forever so thank you".

A third penned: "58- years-old and never knew this".

Some have said it is also possible to crush them in your hands as somebody noted: "But it's fun crumbling them in your hands".

Another stated: "I crush it in my hands."
