Supermarket shelves are stacked with an abundance of cleaning products, each promising to leave our clothes, floors or surfaces sparkly clean. With so many options on the market boasting dazzling features, it's difficult to even know where to start.
If you're guilty of choosing a snazzy-looking detergent without reading the small print, you might want to reconsider as some people have just discovered they've been missing the basics on what different powders actually do.
While most people opt for cleaning detergents with snazzy packaging or plastered with familiar faces, like the popular cleaning influencer Mrs Hinch, you should instead consider reading the small print of what you're purchasing.
After a video surfaced on TikTok explaining the difference between bio and non-bio washing powder, people have claimed they never realised the distinction - until now.
TikTok account @ommelyla, which boasts more than 80,000 followers, explained the difference between both products in detail.
Since sharing the little-known discovery, their video has surpassed a whopping 400,000 views to date.
They questioned: "Do you know the difference between Bio and Non-Bio washing up powder?
"Bio detergent contains enzymes that help to break down common stains, such as food.
"Non-bio do not have these enzymes.
"If you have sensitive skin (eczema, psoriasis) or have young children this is what non-bio is for," they added.
Since sharing, the TikTok video has raked in over 7,500 comments to date - with people suggesting their own differences
One person said: "Itchy vs non-itchy."
Meanwhile, someone else wrote: "Bio is better, cleans better - I knew that from doing home economics we talked about laundry and cooking."
"I never knew why they were different but always buy non-bio for some reason," a third penned.
