People are getting mildly infuriated over this photo of a Dublin footpath

Some workers have caused outrage Dubliners after a photo of their mildly infuriating work has gone viral.

The pic, which was uploaded by the Dublin Civic Office, has made for uncomfortable viewing online, with many saying the knowledge of its existence has left them "itching" themselves.

It appears as if a cover, which lies between some red and grey brickwork, was taken up for some maintenance work before being put back the wrong way round.

The result has left most people tetchy, although others have admired the new "piece of art."

One said: "Itching to turn it round... but don't think it would quite match. The agony!"

Another replied: "Usually the last piece of the jigsaw is the easiest."

Others were big fans of the pavement gaffe saying: "Sometimes things are so daft and awful they are kinda sublime. (That probably applies to human beings too)."

Another said: "Kinda leaning towards the Picasso look of this."
