People are finding out what B&M stands for and it's not 'Bargains & More'

We all love a bargain whether it's food, drinks or something we want to treat ourselves too.

And when it comes to deals, our minds often jump to the likes of Home Bargains or B&M where hundreds, if not thousands, of deals are ready to be snapped up.

But just recently, people have been discovering what B&M actually stands for - and they're baffled with reactiosn going viral. And no, it has nothing to do with bargains at all.

The chain, which have several dotted in and around the city, has discounted prices and an enormous range of home items - many of which are the mainstay of British houses.

With these type of huge brands, the names as they appear can become so etched into our minds that we can't imagine them being called anything else, as reported by the Mirror.

With many assuming it stood for Bargains & More, it's safe to say people have been left surprised.

The current billionaire CEO of the store recently stated that he was not even sure what the name stood for but was told it was in fact, Bargains & More. As it turns out though, it actually stands for Billington & Mayman - after the founder of the chain Malcolm Billington and Mayman, a partner in the store.

The store was founded in 1978 but it did not get off to the best of start - that was until their current owner, Cambridge law graduate Simon Arora, bought them in 2004 and turned it into a huge chain worth billions.

In 2018, Mr Arora announced his intentions to make B&M the equivalent of Aldi and Lidl in the home store world - he wanted to make them a staple chain for anyone's furniture needs.

This is not the only time in recent weeks when a store has had its true name uncovered with ASOS being another one. Unlike B&M, ASOS does not relate to the founders of the huge online store but to their original selling point which was that they sold clothes As Seen On Screen, so people could look like the celebrities they saw on the TV.
