Pensioner who died alone in England may have relatives in Northern Ireland

Police are appealing to the public in Northern Ireland to help find the next of kin of a man who has died alone in Yorkshire.

Simon Curtis Smith was reported to have passed away in his home in Scarborough on January 2 but police enquiries have not revealed any next of kin.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Our coroner's officers are appealing to people in Ireland as they continue their search to find the next of kin of Simon Curtis Smith who died at his home address in Scarborough aged 70.

"Enquiries following Simon's death - reported to us on January 2 - have not revealed any next of kin. They now believe he may have relatives in Ireland although it is not known.

"Anyone who can locate any members of his family is asked to contact the Coroner's Office on (44)01609 643 168.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding Simon's death. Thank you for your help."
