Pensioner dies after collision with cyclist outside Scottish Parliament

A 66-YEAR-OLD woman has died after a collision with a cyclist outside the Scottish Parliament, police have said.

The unnamed pensioner was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after the incident, which happened on Edinburgh’s Horse Wynd at around 10.40am.

On Friday, Police Scotland said that she had died while still in the care of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

A 20-year-old man, the cyclist, was also taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh to be checked over and later discharged.

Sergeant Jill Kirkpatrick, of Edinburgh’s road policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman at what is a difficult time for them.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
