A pensioner has died four days after being knocked down by a car in Johnstone.

The 80-year-old woman was with another 73-year-old friend when they were hit when crossing Walkinshaw Street at its junction with High Street.

They were struck by a blue Nissan Note around 11.45am on Thursday, October 29.

Both women were rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where sadly the 80-year-old has now died.

The male driver and his female passenger were unhurt but left badly shaken following the collision.

An appeal for witnesses is still ongoing.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances of what happened and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1140 of Thursday, 29 October 2020.”
