Police Scotland this morning confirmed a pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene.

A joint police and Fire Service probe is now underway to establish what caused the fire.

Outbuildings at the care home have been taped off as officers scour the scene.

Detective Sergeant Emma Patrick, from Greater Glasgow CID, said: “Around 8.10pm on Wednesday, April 8, officers were called to a nursing home in the Parkhouse Road following reports of a fire.

"A 66-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and our thoughts are with his family at this time.

"A joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be carried out to establish the full circumstances.”
