There is a decent chance that, come season’s end, the Pelicans will look at their loss against Minnesota at home in early March as one of the most frustrating losses should the team not make the playoffs.
The Timberwolves have shown improvements in recent games. The team has as many wins in the last three games, two, as they did from Jan. 11 through March 1, a span of 22 games. Malik Beasley has blossomed in his new role with Minnesota, averaging 27 points per game in the team’s last three contests.
New Orleans, though, will view this game and essentially every game remaining as a must-win contest if the Pelicans want to make the playoffs. The team enters the day 4.5 games back of Memphis is the eighth seed, one game back of Sacramento in the ninth seed and tied in games back with San Antonio and Portland.
