Chelsea midfielder Pedro believes only Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos is on a par with Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk at present.
But the Spain international wouldn't be drawn on who is the best between the pair.
Pedro and his team-mates will be tasked with trying to find a way beyond Van Dijk in Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup here in Istanbul.
And when asked to compare fellow Spaniard Ramos with Van Dijk, Pedro said: “At this moment these two players are at the top.
“Sergio Ramos is very good and I know him very well. A a central defender he is great with the ball, a good passer and a good defender as well.
“Van Dijk is also the same, so strong and very good in the air, good with passes as well and scores goal.
“They are two big players.
“He is in a great moment right now, last season Van Dijk had a very good season, winning the Champions League and being the best player in the league.
“He is a good defender.”
Pedro also echoed the words of Chelsea boss Frank Lampard when warning against Liverpool's ability on the break.
“Liverpool are a good team and good at counter-attacks as well,” he said.
“We need to read the game well and stay compact and if we create chances we need to score. It's a great opportunity to win a trophy.”
