The creator of Peaky Blinders has confirmed that the show will have a total of seven series.
Steven Knight also confirmed that filming for the fifth series – which he calls “the best yet” – has been completed with the next batch of episodes now in post-production.
Rather than rest on his laurels, Knight told Talksport that he’s in the process of writing series six meaning fans won’t have to wait so long in between runs.
He added that there will “almost certainly” be a total of seven series, although the BBC is yet to confirm this.
Series five of the gangster drama will revolve around infamous Glasgow gang, The Billy Boys, and the rise of fascism (its leader, Billy Fullerton, would go on to form the Glaswegian branch of the British Union of Fascists).
“We just finished shooting a week and a half ago,” Knight said, adding: "Series five is done. I can honestly say that it’s the best yet. It’s really good. It’s fantastic and it all fell together beautifully. Great performances and I think audiences are going to be on the edge of their seats.”
There’s currently no release date for the fifth series of Peaky Blinders, although the next selection of episodes is expected by Summer 2019.
