Paulo Fonseca has Wikipedia page hacked as fans troll Tottenham over new manager move

Tottenham have opened talks with Paulo Fonseca to become the club's new manager in time for next season.

Spurs have been without a permanent head coach since relieving Jose Mourinho of his duties in mid-April.

Mourinho has since been appointed as Roma boss after the role was left vacant by Fonseca himself.

football.london understands that Fabio Paratici, the north London club's soon-to-be Director of Football, is a big fan of the old Roma manager and is playing a big part in a potential deal for the 48-year-old to become head coach at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Now, some football fans have hijacked Fonseca's Wikipedia page with the news that he looks set to become Spurs' new boss.

Fonseca's Wikipedia page before being changed again (Wikipedia)

The opening paragraph on his Wikipedia page read: "Paulo Alexandre Rodrigues Fonseca is a Portuguese former professional who played as a central defender, and is the current manager of Tottenham Hotspur F.C.

"He was reportedly hired by Daniel Levy as an attempt to get back at Jose Mourinho after the latter accepted a managerial offer from Fonseca's former club A.S. Roma.

"During a meeting with the club's executives, Fonseca was reportedly instructed to carry his coffee in a flask or a bottle as carrying cups does not align with the club's interests."

However, it has since been changed back to a more appropriate and accurate opening paragraph.

Spurs have turned to Fonseca after their initial plans to appoint Antonio Conte as their new manager broke down last week.

Conte looked set to become Daniel Levy's man, but talks collapsed after a disagreement over his demands.

Former boss Mauricio Pochettino was the north London club's first choice manager, but Paris Saint-Germain blocked a sensational return for the Argentine.
