Paul Scholes sends Paul Pogba warning about Manchester United return

Paul Scholes has warned Paul Pogba he can not expect to go straight back into the Manchester United starting line up following his long injury lay-off.

Pogba is yet to feature for United at all in 2020 with his last appearance coming in the Boxing Day win over Newcastle United last year.

The French midfielder is one player who should benefit from the three month postponement of the Premier League, with Pogba now back in full training sessions with his United teammates.

Much excitement surrounds Pogba and his potential partnership with Bruno Fernandes in midfield and Scholes admits the World Cup winner can only benefit the side on the pitch.

However, the United legend has warned that Pogba won't just simply be awarded a starting berth solely on merit.

"Paul has got a little bit of work to do to get into the team," Scholes told the Daily Mirror.

"Before the outbreak happened and the stop happened, you have to say that the players that were playing – Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Fred – they were really doing well in midfield.

"It's not going to be straightforward for Paul. He's got some work on his hands just to get back into the team.

"But we all know what Paul's capable of. He's a top player when he's on form. The better players you play with – surely that can only be to the benefit of the team."
