Paul Scholes agrees with Dietmar Hamann on Chelsea's Premier League title chances

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes agrees with ex-Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann on Chelsea's limited potential to win the Premier League this season, with the latter delivering an especially brutal verdict.

The Blues currently sit top of the table with 16 points from a possible 21, with their only defeat coming in the 1-0 home loss to fellow title rivals Man City a few weeks ago.

Arguably, Thomas Tuchel's side have had one of the most difficult schedules to the new 2021/22 season with the west Londoners already picking points up against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs before the October international break.

Fellow west London club Brentford is up next for the European Champions as they look to hit the ground running once again as this latest international break comes to an end.

During the international period, Scholes has been speaking on Sky Sports' Overlap forum and doesn't think the Blues will be in the title equation come the latter stages of the season.

He said via The Mirror: "I think it’s between Liverpool and Manchester City, I do think there is three great teams [including Chelsea]."

"I think United have not fallen away, but it’s very early.

"I just think City and Liverpool, watching that game [between the two sides] the quality was just so high, I just can’t see any other team getting close to them."

Hamann went one step further in ruling the west Londoners out of this years Premier League title race by claiming that they "aren't on the same level" as Liverpool and Man City.

Speaking to the German version of Goal, Hamann said: “I don’t think they are on the same level as Liverpool and Manchester City.

“You can win the Champions League if you don’t have the best team. But the championship you can’t. That’s why third place would be the highest of feelings for Chelsea.”

These criticisms won't faze the European Champions and they go intoi the weekend knowing if they lose top soot earlier in the day, victory on Saturday evening at the Brentford
