Paul Pogba told Liverpool would 'not put up' with Manchester United problem

Paul Pogba's poor form in defence would prevent him from getting into Liverpool's midfield.

That is according to Danny Murphy, who says that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp would not stand for Pogba's lack of application when off the ball.

The Manchester United midfielder looked back to his best at the end of last season when he formed a strong partnership with January signing Bruno Fernandes.

Yet Pogba has looked off the pace so far this season, with United conceding six goals in two Premier League games and the midfield flattering to deceive when out of possession.

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Liverpool midfielder Murphy said Pogba has the ability and capability to defend better than he currently does.

Yet he argued that a lack of work rate lets the Frenchman down and that the likes of Klopp would not let him get away with it in the same way United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seemingly does.

He said: "Because Pogba's got everything, he could defend better than he does.

"But he doesn't, for some reason, and I don't know whether that's the lack of consequence for not defending.

"Pogba wouldn't get in Klopp's midfield, I don't think.

"He might if he was going to work as hard as he was supposed to but I don't think the likes of Klopp would put up with midfielders defending like that."
