Paul Pogba and Rio Ferdinand agree on Aurelien Tchouameni amid Arsenal transfer links

Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni is the latest player to be linked with a summer transfer to Arsenal.

The Gunners have overhauled their midfield in recent times, allowing Granit Xhaka to depart for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen whilst Thomas Partey would also be allowed to leave if a suitable offer were to come in, football.london understands. One midfielder set to arrive at the Emirates Stadium is West Ham United captain Declan Rice, who will join Mikel Arteta's side for a club-record £105million.

But if Partey's exit is sanctioned, Arteta will likely need another defensive-minded midfielder on top of Rice. Tchouameni has been mooted as a possible name on the Spaniard's shortlist, although a deal is unlikely to come cheap given he joined Real for a fee in the region of £85.3million last summer.

The former Monaco starlet would be an excellent addition to the north Londoners if previous comments from Paul Pogba are to be believed. "He's very good", Pogba told M6, via Football Transfers, when asked about Tchouameni back in 2021.

"He's not a boy, he's shown on the field that he's a man who has lots of energy. It's a pleasure to play beside him, I'll always be there to push him.

"He brings a lot. He has exceptional technique and physical qualities. It's nice to see young players coming into the France team and showing themselves so much.

"He can only progress. He's very, very young and he is the present and the future." Another ex-Manchester United star that has heaped praise on the talented youngster is Rio Ferdinand.

Speaking on the BBC’s coverage after the World Cup semi-final, Ferdinand said: "Listen, Tchouameni is a young kid, he’s going to make mistakes but he’s a superb talent, he produces moments out of nowhere, incredible player. Replacing Pogba in a France XI is not an easy task, but so far, Tchouaméni has been superb.

“Tchouameni showed why he plays for Real Madrid. He has the patience, talent, control, he has everything you need.”
