Paul Hanlon determined to fulfil Ron Gordon's Hibs dream as he targets regular European football

Paul Hanlon is determined to achieve Ron Gordon's dream of making Hibs a success and playing in Europe on a regular basis.

Tributes have poured in over the last two weeks to honour the late executive chairman who sadly passed away aged 68. The Scottish football family and wider community have come together to share their condolences over the past fortnight as the capital club get ready to take to the field for the first time since the heartbreaking news.

Lee Johnson's men are currently on a six match unbeaten run and that form has propelled them into fourth spot and just five points behind city rivals Hearts in the race for third. Top six and European football next season is a realistic target once more and it is something Hanlon wants to achieve to honour Gordon - with the players determined to see out his vision. Speaking ahead of the clash at Livingston, he told Hibs' official website: “It has been a very difficult two weeks and a really sad time for everyone at the club.

“The news came as quite a shock to everyone to be honest, we are all so disappointed to lose such a great leader for this club and our thoughts go out to the whole Gordon family at this difficult time.

“Ron was desperate for us to succeed as a football club and compete in European football on a regular basis, so we need to go out and fulfil that dream for him.

“That is the motivation for us going forward, we are determined to see out his vision.”

He continued: “We’ve been working hard together and have put together some good team performances and results recently, so we will go into this weekend full of confidence.

“The Tony Macaroni Arena is a difficult place to go – we know that from our previous visits there over the last few years but we just need to focus on ourselves and make sure we keep our momentum and this good run going.

“We’ve been solid at the back recently – it probably should’ve been four clean sheets if you consider the game up at Ross County as well.

"So we’ve got a good base to work from but every single fixture is different so we just need to make sure we stick together and make sure we get another one on Saturday.”
