Paul Cattermole police issue update on investigation into S Club star's death

Police have today confirmed they have ended their investigation into the death of S Club 7 singer Paul Cattermole.

A police spokesperson told the Mirror: "Following on from your enquiry on this yesterday, we can now confirm that following further liaison with the Coroner’s Office, it has been confirmed that no further police assistance is required and our enquiries have concluded."

Yesterday, following the release of Paul’s cause of death, a Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police is continuing to liaise with the Coroner’s Office to establish the latest situation."

The update from the police follows it being confirmed the Reach singer died of natural causes.

Dorset Coroner's Service finished investigating Paul's death and confirmed the cause earlier this week, confirming Paul died of natural causes and no inquest into the singer's death will take place.

A spokeswoman for the coroner said yesterday: "We confirm that Mr Cattermole died from natural causes and our investigations have concluded. As his death was from natural causes there will be no inquest."

Paul's unexpected death at the age of 46 on April 6 devastated his S Club 7 bandmates, just months before the seven-piece band were due to tour to celebrate their 25th anniversary.

A statement from the band to announce Paul's death read: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have.

"He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

It's since been announced that Hannah Spearritt, who dated previously dated Paul, would be taking a step back from the band following the death of her ex-boyfriend and bandmate.

Rachel Stevens, Jon Lee, Tina Barrett, Jo O'Meara and Bradley McIntosh took to their official Instagram page to break the news and pay tribute to their late friend over the weekend.

The five singers told their fans: "You've probably noticed that there's only five of us here today.

"Hannah will always be a part of S Club 7, she won't be joining us on this tour but we wish her all the best for the future."

Reassuring fans of their gigs, Jon said: "However, the five of us are really excited and geared up to crack on. It's going to be our 'tribute' to Paul.

"We are renaming the tour, The Good Times Tour, which is the song that Paul was going to sing...sorry," he added before tearing up.

Tina explained how Good Times was Paul's song and they wanted to pay tribute to him by renaming the tour.

Paul's body was discovered in his home on April 6, one day prior to the news of his death being made public.

A statement from his family read: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

"Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."
