Patriots Twitter reacts to strange musical chairs at backup QB

Patriots Mac Jones Bailey Zappe Matt Corral NE (Organization) Eagles

Things are back to normal at quarterback for the New England Patriots with Bailey Zappe reportedly being re-signed to the 53-man roster as the No. 2 option behind Mac Jones.

Zappe-Mania is back, and after only nine days, the Matt Corral experiment has ended in New England.

The Patriots originally cut Zappe from the main roster and risked him being claimed by another team on waivers. However, after seeing him go unclaimed, they stashed him on the practice squad, along with rookie quarterback Malik Cunningham.

Zappe was re-signed on Saturday morning, ahead of Sunday’s Week 1 meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles, and Corral was released from his contract.

It will be another year of Jones and Zappe as the two quarterbacks in New England, unless the Patriots make the decision to bring somebody else onboard.

Jones appears to have a firm grip on the starting job, but Zappe-Mania will be chirping from a distance. Here’s what Patriots Twitter is saying about Zappe rejoining the main roster.
