Patrick Peterson will attend mandatory minicamp, suggests he won’t be at OTAs

The Arizona Cardinals will be without cornerback Patrick Peterson for the first six weeks of the regular season because of an announced suspension for the use of performance-enhancing drugs and apparent substance to try and cover it up. They have been without him at voluntary offseason workouts and it appears they will be without him at voluntary organized team activities (OTAs).

“I have to be a father,” he said at his charity event, according to AZCardinals.com’s Kyle Odegard. “My wife is a doctor. Right now, I’m the only one who can take her to school, so I have to take her to school each and every day, make sure she gets there secure and make sure that she’s picked up.”

Peterson has been absent from the team during the voluntary part of the offseason, reportedly because of a disagreement with the front office. OTAs are voluntary and begin next week.

Peterson said he will participate in mandatory minicamp in June.

The Cardinals will have 10 voluntary practices during OTAs beginning May 20. Mandatory minicamp is from June 11-13.
